This map is from the F.W. Beers 1875 Middlesex County Atlas and was published at the height of the nation wide annexation movement largely caused by civic reforms and particularly for Boston the desire to consolidate municipal services and to finance the expansion of the MDC water system.
This map was published in the atlas as folding map and is very hard to find in acceptable condition. This restoration map required a couple of days work to mend the fragmented original map. For a summary of the Boston annexation movement go to:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston–Brookline_annexation_debate_of_1873I am dedicated to providing original maps and museum quality prints of antique ward and country maps of
Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island, New York, Philadelphia and Ireland
I produce both prints of the original maps or fully restored prints for my Gallery Collection.
I take a great deal of pride
in my work and I limit placing restored prints into my Gallery Collection to those few prints that are of the very highest quality where
I have completed an extensive inch-by-inch restoration of the map.
Pricing reflects the workmanship that is required to create a print for the Gallery Collection.
To fully appreciate the quality of the Gallery Collection you are encouraged to view the actual prints at our selected retail stores,
